<br /> <br />APPENDIX <br />Attached are pictures illustrat.~ng vegetation established on reclamation <br />test plots during the past summer (19'~. These photographs demonstrate <br />the success achieved concerning primary community establishment, utilizing <br />the reclamation plan described in this report. The plots were seeded in <br />'I late June and the photographs takes in late September. After three months <br />the plants are seen to be healthy with good root system development, <br />penetrating well beyond the peat bedded in each furrow. Figures 111 and lf3 <br />' show Balboa rye reaching seed stage. Figure lf4 demonstrates the pla:at growth <br />I <br />' within the furrows (This picture was taken two months after seeding). Figure <br />115 displays a test plot where the seed was sown directly into tailiny;s <br />material with a whirlybird broadcaster. Soil amendments of Ammonium Phosphate <br />and Ammonium Nitrate were added at the prescribed rates (Fertilizers Exhibit E), <br />but peat or topsoil were not added. The photograph of Fig. 115 was taken <br />two months after seeding. <br />u <br />
