Mr. Carl F. Winsor -2- July 6, 1983.
stockpiled and detail the seed mix in terms of species and seediny rates
that you will use on the topsoil stockpiles for stabilization .
(Reference your reclamation plan 1-G.)
You have stated that the area will be backsloped "to allow cattle to
traverse", but the pit walls are at least 4U'-50' nigh at the immediate
boundaries of the proposed affected area. If you were to reduce these
pit walls to 3:1 or 4:1 slopes either the pit would need to be backfilled
or the boundaries extended some distance to the east to accommodate the
slope yradients. Therefore, please explain how you will shape and
re grade this pit and what the final slope gradients will be, given your
present permit boundaries.
You have stated that the reclaimed site will be returned to pasture use,
but your seed mix is extremely limited for pasture yrazing. Please
supply the staff with a more thorouyh and expanded seed mix for
reclamation purposes. Species that could be included are those found on
the SCS Baseline Survey and sugyestions by the State Division of
Wildlife. All seed mixes should show species to be seeded, the percent
of eacfi species in the mix and the rate of seeding in pure live seed
rates. You should also list the rates for your fertilizer applications
and your wheat or barley mulch as well as the expected season for
reseeding.
If we receive an adequate response to the above items and proof of
notification to adjacent landowners by July 22, 1983, I will recommend
approval of this application at the July Board rneetiny (unless your
analysis shows this to be a 112 permit application, in which case the
time period will be extended).
If I can be of any assistance or if you have any questions/comments
please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
~~o`.-^
William R. Beavers
Reclamation Specialist
WRB/tlh
Uoc. Ko. 4114
