<br />VENABLE PEDON PROFILE /f <br />• Loam 05-04-20-058 <br />A pedon (05-04-20-058) of the Venable loam, 2 to 8 percent slopes; afine-loamy <br />Cumulic Cryaquoll 855 feet west, 2,640 feet south, northeast corner Section 14, T.SN <br />R.86W at 6,702 feet elevation is: <br />A I 0-4 inches brown (10 YR S/3) heavy loam, very dark grayish brown <br />(10 YR 3/2) moist; very fine single grain structure; slightly hard, <br />very friable; slightly sticky; plastic; many very tine roots, common <br />fine and medium roots, few coarse roots; non-calcareous; 10-IS <br />percent gravels; abrupt wavy boundary. <br />B23 4-18 inches very dark grayish brown (10 YR 3/2) clay loam, black <br />(10 YR 2/I) moist; moderate fine angular blocky structure; loose, <br />very friable; sticky and plastic; few fine distinct (7.5 YR 5/4) <br />mottles; common fine, very fine and medium roots; slightly <br />calcareous; clear smooth boundary. <br />• <br />B22 18-37 inches dark grayish brown (10 YR 4/2) clay loam, very dark <br />gray (10 YR 3/I) moist; moderate very tine subangular blocky <br />structure; loose, very friable; sticky and plastic; few fine faint (10 <br />YR 5/8) mottles; common fine, very fine and medium roots; non- <br />calcareous; clear smooth boundary. <br />639 37-52 inches gleyed material of stratified sands and gravels, and <br />gravelly sandy clay, and very dark grayish brown (10 YR 3/2) moist; <br />common medium distinct mottles; fine and very fine single grain <br />structure; loose, loose; slightly sticky; plastic; few very fine, fine <br />and medium roots; non-calcareous; 40 percent gravels; standing <br />water at 52 inches. <br />This pedon has a thinner Al horizon and a finer textured subsoil than the typic <br />pedon.
