a coarse-loamy Cumulic Cryaquoll, 985 feet west, 1,120 feet north, southeast corner • Section 36, T.SN R.85W at 7,003 feet elevation is: AI 0-10 inches brown (10 YR 4/3) fine sandy loam, dark brown (10 Yr 3/3) moist; moderate medium granular structure; soft, very friable; common very fine and fine roots, few medium roots; non- calcareous; pH 6.6; clear irregular boundary. AC 10-15 inches brown (10 YR 5/3) fine sandy loam, dark brown (10 YR 3/3) moist; moderate tine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable; few very fine roots; few fine distinct mottles (7.5 YR 5/8); thin pockets of very dark gray (10 YR 3/I) sandy loam near lower portion of horizon; non-calcareous; pH 6.9; clear smooth boundary. Clg IS-26 inches light yellowish brown (10 YR 6/4) loamy sand dark brown (10 YR 3/3) moist; weak medium subangular blocky breaking • to single grain; loose; non-sticky and non-plastic; few to none very fine roots; common fine distinct mottles (7.5 YR 5/6); gley pockets approximately I inch in diameter; non-calcareous; pH 7.3; abrupt smooth boundary. C2 26-46 inches mixed colors of stratified dark brown coarse sands and gravels (7.5 YR 4/4) moist; single grain, loose, non-sticky and non- elastic; non-calcareous; pH 7.3; 40 percent gravels; standing water at 46 inches. The depth to water table was at 30 inches in the typic pedon. The mollic epipedon in this profile is not quite thick enough to be cumulic. This soil has a gleyed layer at 15 to 26 inches indicating fluctuation in the current ground water depth. Mottles were visible below 10 inches in both pedons.
