In most <br />pedons, a calcareous subsoil was not encountered. <br />Venable Series <br />The Venable Series consists of deep, somewhat poorly drained, loamy soils. They <br />are formed in mixed alluvium on nearly level to gently sloping alluvial valley floors <br />and terraces. These soils are found at 6,600 to 7,200 feet elevation. Permeability <br />is moderately slow to moderate. This soil is found extensively on The valley floors <br />adjacent to Trout and Fish Creeks. <br />Typically, the surface horizon is a grayish brown to dark grayish brown loam <br />• ranging in thickness from 4 to 9 inches. The subsoil is a'grayish brown to brown fine <br />sandy clay loam or silty clay loam measuring 21 to 50 inches in depth. Mottling is <br />2.3-124 <br />
