Box 205
Kiowa, Colorado 80117
ke: Burns, Leischuck, Perry, Jacklich, Uole, Kochis, West, and Ragains Pits
File Nos. 83-124 through 83-131, Inclusive, Respectively
.D,a~rL.;
Dear '"~,„-,--::..:~.
I am writing this letter for two purposes. The first is to notify you that
our Division has not yet received the Division of Wildlife statements for the
Perry, Jacklich, Kochis, West, and Ragains Pits. I do not feel that I can do
an adequacy review of these applications without this information and,
therefore, strongly suggest that you request a continuance of Board
consideration for these five applications until the September 21-22, 1983
meeting. Without such a request from you, my only alternative is to recommend
denial of the permit applications. You may make the request by telephone next
week (before Wednesday) and then follow up with written confirmation after
that.
The second purpose of this letter is to do an adequacy review of the remaining
three operations; the Burns, Leischuck, and Uole Pits. I have received the
Uivision of Wildlife statements for these operations. I am sorry that, due to
an extremely busy month, I did not get this letter to you much sooner.
However, I will be in tine office on 1~londay and Tuesday of next week and will
be available for any questions or comments then. I suggest that you respond
to my quest ions ,on these three applications by telephone and, once again,
follow up with a written response. I will plan to present these three
applications based on your telephone responses to me, if possible. These
applications will be scheduled for presentation during the August 24-24, 1983
meeting. If there is some problem with responding to my letter on Monday or
Tuesday, you may also need to request a continuance on these three
applications until the September meeting.
Where possible, I will generalize my questions to all three operations. I
will also clearly identify any questions referring to only one of the three
operations. The questions are organized on an exhibit-by-exhibit basis
below. Any exhibits or parts thereof not mentioned for any individual
application are considered adequate for Board consideration now.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver. Colorado 80203 Tel. (303) 866-3567
