Monell
Colorado Lien Company
Bo v. 1961
Fort Collins, CO ?0522
A site visit on appro:;imately 9,9 acres in the SE 1/4 of the SE
1/4 and the NE 1!4 of the SE 1J4 of Section 7, T. 9 N., R. 69
W., was made on January l8, 1989. A reclamation plan has bean
developed as per your rflquest. The soils on tltia site are
predominantly t3a11er^Rocl; outcrop complex, 15 to 45 percent
slopes. Refer to the attached soil description for additional
information.
The native plant species on the site era generally in good
condition, Past grazing use appears to have been moderate,
coma Japanese and downy broma fcheat9xassl has invaded the
site. A few scattered pinon ping also occur on this site. The
~jominant vegetation includes birclileaf mountain mahogny, blue
~~rama, little bluestem, sideeats 9rama, red threeawn, Prairie
.June9rass, yucca, and downy broma. In er.cellent condition the
vegetation should include big bluestem, western wheatgrass,
Yellow indiangrass, Grifiith's wheatgrass, and switchgrass.
1"o provide soil material fivr site reclamation, any e>risting
topsoil should be stockpiled. The stockpiled topsoil should be
F~rotected from wind and water erosion. If stockpiled soil will
tie stored for a long period of time, it will b¢ necessary to
seed the soil with a permanent cover to protect from erosion.
T'he recommended seeding miv. or other vggetativa cover can be
used. Temporary soil stockpiles can be mulched or covered to
protect from erosion.
Tha reclamation wort.: will require grading and reshaping the area
to as near natural contours as possible. The steep rock faces
left after mining need to be blended with the natural contours
prior to sending. Small diameter rocl; spoil should ba spread
over the areas to be seeded and then covered with the stockpiled
topsoil materials. Care should ba tat<en to prevent damming any
es;fisting drainages.
Reclamation needs to begin as
activities in the area cease.
a,-eas should be controlled to
areas. Where hossiblp mining
to reduce the extent of distu
ac:co,nplished in phasRS as the
quid<ly as possibly attar mining
Excess water runoff from adiacent
prevent waFhout of the reclaimed
activities should be concentrated
rbed areas and reclamation can be
mining activities move on.
