<br />' SOILS INFORMATION
<br />The following information was prepared for this permit by the
<br />' Soil Conservation Service located in Sterling Colorado. We plan
<br />to follow their recommendation on revegetation of this site.
<br />
<br />' SOILS
<br />This 9,98 acre site located in the NW~SE'y of Section 29, T9N, R52W,
<br />' in Logan County, Colorado, is predominately a Ustic Torriorthent, Other
<br />soils present in lesser amounts are Dix-Altvan codex, Satanta loam, and
<br />' Wages loam, Ustic Torriorthenta consist of strongly sloping to steep, shallow,
<br />we~~ drained soils that border intermittent drainageways, gullies, and
<br />' escarpments, Soils are extremely variable, most commonly light colored, have
<br />thih surface layers and range from sandy loans to clay loans, Exposures of
<br />' parent material and a few siltstone and sandstone outcrops are common,
<br />Runoff is rapid with a high erosion hazard, These soils are not suitable for
<br />cultivation because of the slope and erosion hazard, The soils on this specific
<br />' site are mainly the heavier loans,,
<br />
<br />VEGETATION
<br />' A typical Ustic Torriorthent soil has a potential vegetative cover of
<br />blue grams (30-35%), western wheatgrass (30-40%), green peddle and thread
<br />' (15-25%), sideoats grams (1-57.), sedges (1-5%), little bluestem (1-59,),
<br />needle and thread (5-LD), winterfat (1-5%), 4-wing saltbush (1-47,), and
<br />small amounts of other grasses, forbs and shrubs, tiormal year productivity
<br />' averages 900 lbs,/acre for sites in excellent condition, Good years average
<br />1300 lbs./acre, while poor years average 450 Lbs./acre,
<br />' The present plant community consists of blue grams, needle grass, 6-weeks
<br />fescue, 3-awn, sedge, prickly pear, prairie clover, fringed sage, and small
<br />' amounts of various other grasses, forbs, and shrubs..
