EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Agile Stone Systems, Inc. wntracted vbra-Tech Engineers to perform pre-blast structural inspections
prior to a vibration and airblast test for a proposed quarry outside of Parkdale, Freemont County,
Colorado. The pre-inspections were conducted to determine the existing conditions of residential
buildings and engineered structures in the vicinity of the proposed quarry. The goal of the vibration
and sirblast test was to evaluate the blast induced ground vibrations and air-home effects and compare
the test results to recommended criteria or applicable regulations governing structures, water wells,
pipelines and other underground swctiues located in the vicinity of the proposed quarry site.
The pre-blast inspections were conducted from October 15 through October 21, 1997. The goal of the
inspections was to include all structures within a mile of the proposed quarry. A total of nineteen pre-
_,
' ' blast inspections were completed. The inspections included residential stnuctures, buildings, bridges
and a state park recreational facility.
The ground vibration and air-borne effects test was conducted on October 21, 1997. The test hole was
detonated at 3:09 p.m. in the proposed granite quarry azea of the Agile Stone Systems property outside
of Parkdale, Freemont County, Colorado. The test shot was monitored by instrumentation provided
by Ybra-Tech Engineers and is the basis for this report.
.~
€~;
