Fred Banta <br />October 28, 1982 <br />Page Two <br />The Bear Coal Company would also like to request the ability to haul <br />underground development waste to the Hotchkiss/Delta landfill as part <br />of an agreement with Western Slope Carbon. The Bear Coal Company made <br />previous arrangements with 4lestern Slope Carbon to dispose of minor <br />amounts of underground development waste from the Bear No. 1 and 2 <br />operations at the landfill site. <br />Any runoff from underground development waste stored on the surface <br />will be collected in the sedimentation pond established at the bear <br />No. 3 operation. Extra care will be taken when hauling underground <br />development waste from the portals to minimize or prevent any <br />spillage. Likewise, the underground development waste will be located <br />away from any diversion ditches or the topsoil stockpile. <br />I appreciate your attention to our request for a minor revision. <br />Unfortunately, we did not anticipate the need to temporarily store <br />underground development waste on the surface. <br />If you have any questions or need additional information, please do <br />not hesitate to contact me. <br />• Sincerely. <br />BEAR COAL COMPANY <br />William A.
