.- N •
Alr. John Hickman -2- July 28, 1982
t E- Reclamation Plan
1. The banks of C4ann Lake will have various slopes, ranging from 5:1 to
2:1, according to P<=rmit No. 77-525. Therefore, for this lake to be compatible,
its banks should al:~o have various slopes, including 5:1 in areas where
swimming will likel~l occur.
2. For clarification purposes; the staff considers irregularly shaped shore-
lines as having app.~oximately ten to twenty feet fluctuations. Is this
compatible with youc definition of "irregular"?
3. [Jhy is there a 25-foot difference along the property lines between mining
and reclamation? This does not seem to be the result of the sloping of the
banks.
4. I talked to thc~ Adams County Planning Impartment and understand that
Adams County does not as _yet have a finalized Comprehensive Regional Park
Plan. When this plan is finalized, FIPC may want to consider incorporating
the appropriate porgy:ions of the plan into the reclamation plan for this site.
t G - Water Resources
1. Is the ditch which the culvert feeds a portion of the Bratner ditch? If
so, has the ditch company been contacted regarding the elimination of this
portion (southwest i~ortion) of the ditch?
2. How will drainage be directed around the mininy operation?
3. Are there any wells within 200 feet of this operation? If so, please
submit the location; type, and depth, if kno~m, of the wells.
t L - Reclamai:i on Costs
The cost of re::oiling seems low. The staff calculates that it would
cost the State approximately $650.00/acre to replace the topsoil using a
motorgrader. This ciould increase the total reclamation cost to $7,019.00.
Legal Right to En tee'
1. Does F1PC have t:he legal right to enter the strip of land between the
Nyholt property and J~fann Lake?
2. If Nyholt does not own the surface or substance to be mined, why is
the affected area labeled as Nyholt Property?
