Therefore, no Special Performance <br />Standards for operations in alluvial valley floors are applicable <br />• to this permit revision, and no protective or remedial measures <br />are proposed for compliance with this part. <br />• <br />The investigations in the general area resulted in no identifica- <br />tion of alluvial valley floors based on geological and geomorphic <br />criteria. The geology and geomorphic conditions of the area are <br />shown on the Regional Geology Map (Map 5). In the Somerset area, <br />the canyon formed by the North Fork of the Gunnison River is <br />extremely narrow and contains too much topographic relief in the <br />form of slopes to be considered capable of being irrigated. <br />As indicated in Section 2.04.3, the historical premining land use <br />of the permit and adjacent areas has been as undeveloped lands <br />and some limited residential use.
