MgSOo type water with a TDS value of 9710 mg/l.
Well GW-S2W-180V exists between the middle and proposed south pit areas. Water quality
monitoring at this well was discontinued after the October, 1995 sample was collected.
Monitoring was discontinued since it was not downgradient of the current mining area and also
because a sampling pump was lost in the well in May, 1994. This well displayed a NaMgCa-
HC03 type water with an average TDS value of 652 mg/I (range 180-7981
Wadge Coal. Well GW-S2W-2W was a flowing monitoring well that existed downgradient of
the II-W South area. It was part of the triple well completion described in the Wadge
overburden section and was also abandoned in 1994. Samples from this well displayed a
MgCaNa-HCOa type water with an average TDS value of 559 mg/1 (range 334-616).
Well GW-S2W-4W exists in the II-W South area. Monitoring for water quality at this well
began in June, 1980 and was discontinued in June, 1985. Monitoring was resumed in July,
1997. Samples from this well display aCaMg-HCOa type water with an average TDS value of
815 mg/I Irange 292-18861•
Well GW-S2W-18W exists between the middle and proposed south pit areas.
