• D,4,1 Access Road
The existing access road (Yellow Creek Jeep Trail) will be,widened and
graveled from the paved Ryan Gulch road (and County Road 83) to the plant
site. As shown in Exhibit B, the proposed up-graded road sections total 4,5
miles in length and extend from the county road in Section 4, T2S, R98W
across BLM lands to the IRI Sodium Minerals Lease, terminating at the plant
site.
Drainage will be provided, as required, to control surface water runoff for
a 100-year storm. Ditches will be "V" bottom or flat bottom with a minimum
depth of 18 inches and, where necessary, energy absorbers will be
constructed to regulate flow velocities and prevent excessive erosion.
Culvert pipe will bf~ corrugated steel pipe (CSP) conforming to AASHTO
M36-14, and bedded <ind backfilled with sand or gravel compacted to 95
percent of maximum density (ASTM-1557). Rock rip-rap will be installed at
the culvert outfalls t.o dissipate energy and prevent erosion.
• The 20-feet wide road surface will consist of a 4-inch (minimum) layer of
gravel compacted to 95 percent of maximum density (ASTM-1557). The road
surface will be crowned to provide drainage. Figure D-6 shows a typical
cross-section of the upgraded access road. No significant cut or fills are
anticipated.
D.4.2 Utilities
Electrical power will be supplied by two 400-kw natural gas fueled
generators. Process Beat will be supplied by an 800-horsepower natural gas
fired boiler. Natural gas will be obtained from an existing pipeline
located two miles south of the lease. A right-of-way application will be
filed with the Bureau of Land Management (October 1983) for a pipeline to
bring natural gas to the plant site. This pipeline will parallel an
existing Jeep trail as shown in Exhibit B.
• The 2-inch diameter n~itural gas pipeline will be constructed along the Jeep
trail from a point in Section 2, T2S, R98W where the trail crosses an
D-10
