Adequacy Review Letter, Costilla County
FROH~ Robert R. Vasquez, Costilla County Administrator
Dear Hr. Oswald,
This letter is in response to your letter dated September 11, 1995.
ERHIBIT B - Site Descriptiori
Part a. Dlease see the attached report from NRC9.
Part b. There are no structures inside of the permit boundary.
Nithin 200 feet of the permit boundary there are flue land
owners that have been notfied by registered mail. This
include the D&RGw Railroad, Department of Transportation,
Sierra Grande school, Joe Rodriguez and Asphalt paving.
ERHIBIT C - Hining Plan
Depth of mining will not aYCeed z5 feet deep and will be mined at
an average 25 foot depth. The direction of mining will be to the
west and the separate pits will eventually join.
There is little to no topsoil to be recovered from the area. All
topsoil will be brought in an as needed basic. Topsoil may be
donated or purchased from local farmers.
Since the pits will eventually join, there will only be the one
ramp because at tRis time there are no plans for structures or
processing onsite. If this should Change, Costilla County will
request a technical revision to the permit.
Reclamation on the east pit will begin immediately upon approval
and therefore will not be operated more. Once the east Dit is
reclaimed there will no longer be an issue with the water seepage
from irrigation. Hining will continue in the opposite direction
away from irrigation with the east pit in between.
