• Weather conditions may modify the above schedule but twelve samples will be
collected for the water year.
Flow measurements will be determined from the on stage readings and
corresponding rating curves. Periodic gaging of the stream transects will
be conducted to maintain an accurate rating curve.
The four (4) water quality samples will be obtained during March, June,
August, and September. However, if streams are ice covered in March, the
March sample will be collected during April.
Site 304 is measured from March/early April through October for water level
only. The site is used to correlate the stream water level with the water
level of the adjacent alluvial wells 008-AU-1 and 008-AV-2.
Effluent monitoring consists of water quality and flow measurements and is
conducted according to the approved methodology and schedules outlined
• within Permits CO-0027154 and CO-0036021. The NPDES permits are located in
Exhibit 5 of the Mine 3 document. Data from the discharge points will be
included with the Annual Hydrologic Monitoring Report. Additionally, copies
of the Discharge Monitoring Report are forwarded to the Division.
During the month of May, the annual spoil spring survey will be conducted at
Mine 3. Any spring(s) discovered at the time of the survey will be plotted
on the map and will be measured for flow and field parameters. If the flow
from a single spring or the combined flow from immediately adjacent springs
exceeds 35 gpm, a full suite analysis will be collected at that time and the
spring(s) will be incorporated into the usual spoil spring monitoring plan.
If flow is less than 35 gpm, no further monitoring will be conducted.
The spoil spring monitoring plan involves collecting monthly flow and field
measurements during the runoff period and then quarterly thereafter.
Samples for a full suite analysis are taken semiannually. The site will be
reviewed again during the following year's survey and if the flow is less
. than 35 gpm, it will be removed from the expanded monitoring requirements.
MR 90-10 Ex. 15-4 Revised 05/03/90
