Hwv 115, on Salt Canyon drainage. <br />Scone: The purpose of this reDOrt is to outline steps for reclamation of <br />a proposed mining site after removal of gypsum mineral. The <br />area will oe mined as a strip mine from exposed beds of gypsum. <br />The planned post mining land use will be for livestock grazing <br />and wildlife habitat. The area to be mined will not exceed <br />1~~ acres. <br />Soils and Climate at the Site Location: <br />The soil at the site i5 mooned as Ustic Torriorthents-Sedillc <br />cdmole:; on the Fremont County Soil Survey. A soils description <br />sheet and copy of soils map are attached. <br />This soil has inclusions of gypsum beds which were not shown on <br />tree County-wide survey description for soil M121. <br />Elevation at the Site is approximately 625i~ feet. The average <br />annual precipitation i=_ 14-15". with 70'!. of the moisture <br />usually coming during the growing season, Mav through Seot. <br />Present Vegetative Characteristics and Cover: <br />The vegetative cover on the portion previously tlisturbed by mining is <br />made uo of a then scattered stand of plants including grasse=_ such as red <br />three-awn, bottlebrush squirreltail and sleeovgrass. Mast are df little <br />value or are undesirable. Forbs and shrubs present include snakeweed, <br />rubber rabbitbrush, mentzelia so .. horehound, flannel mullein, fringed <br />sage, bigelow sane. curlvcup gum weed, native yucca and others. <br />Tnere are also a few pinyon and one-seed ,iunioer trees present from 1-3 <br />feet in height. <br />The ad.i scent undisturbed area supports a grass cover of mostly blue grams <br />with interspersed mature sized pinyon and ,juniper trees.
