~~ ~~
page 3
involved the consolidation of a considerable amount of data
and other information as required by the Development Department
and will involve scheduling a marathon hearing before the County .
Planning Commission and the Lounty Commissioners. We are
proceeding to obtain proper zoning and a letter from the Develop-
ment Department Director, Bennett Boeschenstein, has been submitted
to verify that.
II.A.1. The correct legal description for the Two Road Pit is as
follows:.
E},NWT NE>: and W} NEB NEB, Section 29, Township 9
South, Range 104 West, 6th P.M.
II.B.1. The BLM stipulation referenced "existing settling ponds in the
lower portion of the pit" and requires that these be.cleaned
out to. become •functional again. In effect, the excavated
areas serve as settling ponds, by trapping some of the sand
and cobbles coming down the wash during seasonal high flow
periods. The oversize material is returned to the side slopes
and bottom of the wash to act as riprap and trap sands and
gravels from the next storm flows.
II.B.2. Please refer to response I.A.6.
11.:6.3. The apparent discrepancy is explained by the fact that the
.'area to be reclaimed is much larger than the remaining area
to be mined.. .The one_foot of topsoil will be used to reduce
" the total quantity of growth medium which the County must import.
II.C.1. .The seed mix recommended by the Mined Land Reclamation Board
will be incorporated into the reclamation plan. Sampling and
testing [o determine the amounts and types of mulches or fectilizers
to be used prior. to seeding.
,:. -
II.C.2. The drainageway is sloped at approximately 5$ or 20h:1v and
oversized material is placed to prevent erosion. No distinct
ponding structure (other than the mining excavation) has or
will be created.
II.C.3.
i
';•
The apparent discrepancy is due to a typographical error. The
waste rock piles will be buried in the side slopes of Pit 2.
,.~z. ,,. ' -. ....
