The stone is then stacked onto wooden pallets, banded, and shipped <br />by cort¢non carrier. Smaller pieces are shipped UPS. Our orders range in size from <br />a single small piece, up to 10 tons, which are made up of individually selected pieces. <br />We supply the individual sculptor, high schools, colleges, universities, <br />private art schools, and sculpture supply houses across the United States and Canada. <br />Usually schools, universities, etc. prefer pieces that range in size of 20#-100# each <br />for classroom use, whereas private and accomplished sculptors/artists prefer sizes <br />that range from 60#-500# pieces. Wei also offer drilled cores, which go thru the same <br />quality process, to lathe workers. <br />The alabaster is easily shaped with stone and most woodworking tools, <br />such as rasps and hand chisels. Power tools are most commonly used because it allows <br />the artist a wider range of not only surface effect, butcompletion time. To finish, <br />wet sanding crith wet-0r-dry fine sand paper is used in varying degrees, which leaves the <br />surface ready for a final application of a varity of different waxes, oils, or acrylic <br />sprays- depending on the preference of the artist.
