Such practices should result in land use capabilities and productivity
• levels equal to or greater than those presently found.
From the outset, it is imperative to appreciate that the reclamation
plan defined in this Section is to be implemented in the area where
there has been disturbance from previous coal operations. No attempt
has been made to perform any reclamation work on these areas. The
reclamation plan will be applied to these previous disturbances. For
example, topsoilina will ~ be applicable to previous disturbed areas
9eeaese~e ~p•saiT::Qs-e~;~=.49e~d--freru-these-~Qe-, However, the
reclamation plan as set forth below will be fully applicable to all
lands within the permit area which are in a disturbed state.
Reclamation for the various aspects of the surface facilities will be
implemented following the conclusion of underground mining activities.
The detailed estimate of the cost of reclamation at the planned
underground coal operations required to be covered by the performance
• bond, with supporting calculations, is found under Rule 3.
Peerless Resources, Inc. has revised the Postmining Topography Map (Map
14) of the Coal Gulch area to more adequately conform with the
pre-mining topography shown on the Pre-Mining Topography Map (Map 10).
The post-mining landscape will blend in with the surrounding terrain and
will not offend the topographic or geomorphic character of the area. As
can be seen on both the Pre-Mining Topography Map (Map 10) and the
Postmining Topography Map (Map 14), the slopes above Coal Gulch are
quite steep with some slopes attaining 40 degrees. As part of the
reclamation following mining, Peerless Resources, Inc. will move
approximately 30,000 cubic yards of material to create a topography in
the surface facility area similar to the topographic and geomorphic
conditions found in the surrounding undisturbed areas.
A comparison of the pre-mining and post-mining topography is graphically
presented on the Pre-Mining and Postmining Cross Sections (Map 15).
Temporary Sealing of Underground Openings
• Any mine entry which is temporarily inactive, but has a future useful
life, will be protected by barricades or other covering devices, fenced,
2.05-22 ~ ~ 4 ~~
