2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
The reclamation objective of Peerless Resources, Inc. will be to restore
the surface facility area of the underground mine to a land use
capability which will be equal to or better than that which currently
exists. As stated earlier, the area for planned surface facilities has
been affected by previous coal mining operations. Nonetheless, the
objective of all reclamation practices will be to stabilize the soils,
hydrologic and vegetation resources and to restore the approximate
configuration of the area. Ultimately, the area being disturbed by
surface facilities will be returned to its original use as rangeland
with watersheds and airsheds in their approximate pre-mining character.
In general, the post-mining appearance and usefulness of the area will
be similar to that encountered prior to any mining.
The attainment of the reclamation goals will be satisfied by
implementation of the reclamation plan described below. Peerless
• Resources, Inc. will combine information from existing baseline
conditions with the modern practices of reclamation technology to assure
achievement of its reclamation objectives. The pre-mining condition of
the permit area has been identified either through the collection of
baseline data, or where such data could not be collected because of
previous disturbances, through extrapolation of data from similar
adjacent areas.
With the identification of the pre-mining conditions, mining and
reclamation will be ready to begin according to the following sequence:
1. Extraction of coal resources;
2. Backfilling the portals, grading the area and recontouring the
surface to its approximate original contour; and,
3. Revegetation and restoration of the affected land to the
pre-mining land use.
2.05-21
