Mechanical work on the mining equipment will be performed at the shop
• facility. A welding facility will be included as part of the shop. The
warehouse will contain an inventory of equipment parts for use in the
maintenance program. Outside storage of larger parts and supplies will
be essential because of the limited building space. All cap lamps and
other miscellaneous underground safety equipment will be kept in the
shop. Miscellaneous lubricants and greases for the mining equipment
will be also be kept at the shop. ~,
Coal Crushing, Handling and Load-Out Facilities. The coal crushing,
handling and load-out facilities for the Coal Gulch Mine will include
the following: a coal crushing set-up, conveyors, a coal storage area,
and a load-out area. The coal crushing, handling and load-out facility
will be located as shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12).
Coal will be transported from the underground mining operations via a
conveyor belt. The coal will be fed from the conveyor into a crusher.
The crusher will reduce the coal and discharge it onto another conveyor
belt. The conveyor belt will take the coal from the crusher to a coal
storage area. The coal can then loaded into trucks for haulage to
customers.
Drainage from the surface facility will pass through a sedimentation
pond as shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12).
Sedimentation Pond. The sedimentation pond for the planned surface
support facilities area is shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12).
The design of this sediment pond is included in the Section known as
Ponds, Impoundments and Diversions, found in Section 2.05.3.
Exhaust Fan. An exhaust fan will be located on the portal pad of the
Coal Gulch Mine portals area. This fan will be used to provide
ventilation for the underground mine workings.

2.05-16
