Equipment. The proposed machinery for the Peerless Resources, Inc.
• operations will be equipped, maintained, and operated to insure maximum
safety, productivity, and quality of coal production.
All underground equipment will be approved by the Mine Safety and Health
Administration. The major underground and surface equipment to be
utilized is set forth in Table 6, Equipment List.
Room and Pillar Mining. Room and pillar mining will account for all the
total projected tonnage. This mining will be accomplished utilizing a
continuous mining system. The room and pillar mining cycle will consist
of coal removal from each entry and panel in a sequence indicated on the
Mine Plan Map (Map 11).
The mining cycle during development will consist of the following steps:
1. Extraction. The continuous miner will make two consecutive
cuts side by side, resulting in an entry width of
approximately 18 feet. The depth of the cut will be
determined by the machine specification and the location of
roof supports. The operator's canopy will remain under
supported roof at all times.
2. Loading. As the continuous miner cuts into the face, the
ripped coal will be collected by gathering arms at the base of
the continuous miner. These arms will then direct the coal
onto a conveyor which will discharge it into an electric
shuttle car.
3. Hauling and Dumping. The mined coal will be transported to a
load-out point and dumped into a feeder breaker. The feeder
breaker will even up the flow of coal, break any lumps larger
than 8 inches in diameter, and direct the stream of coal onto
a conveyor belt for transport out of the mine.
C~
2.05-11
