DESIGN G1211fER1A Otter Facilities] <br />7.09 Grey Violater SysPeata <br />A grey water system shall meet at least all minimum design and construciion standards for a <br />septic tank system. Based on the amount and character of wastes for the fixtures and the <br />number of persons to be served. <br />7.02 Vaults <br />Vaults may be permitted by the local board of health for struchues limited in use or <br />occupancy, served by water carriage sewer lines, and on property for which a sewage <br />treatment system is not physically or operationally feasible. Vaults shall meet the same <br />construction and installation standards required for septic tanks, except there shall be no <br />effiuem outlet and two compartment construction shaII not be required. Vaults shall have a <br />minimum 1,000 gallon effective capacity. Water conserving fixtures shall be required to <br />minimize the quantity of sewage flow to the vault. Vaults shall be located in an azea which <br />is accessible to pumping and shall be equipped with a conspicuously located visual or audio <br />device to signal when filled to 65 - 80% of capacity. Vaults shall be pumped by a Licensed <br />System Cleaner prior to reaching capacity and all receipts shall be retained and made available <br />to the local health department upon request. <br />A Residential Vaults: <br />A permit For a vauh may be issued for an existing residential structure that is limited <br />in use or occupancy if no other permanent means of sewage disposal is physically <br />feasible. A permit For a vault shall not be issued for new residential structures. <br />B. Vaults for Industry, Businesses, and Commercial Properties: <br />A peanit for a vauh for industry, businesses, and commercial properties with a normal <br />occupancy of not more than ten (10) employees may be issued by the local health <br />department if there is no central sewage works available and if installation, operation, <br />or maintenance of a package sewer plant or individual sewage disposal system is not <br />physically feasible. Such a permit is revocable by the Board of health and will be <br />issued only after considering the land development and zoning in the azea and the <br />possibility of connection to a cerrtral sewage treatment works. If the permit for such <br />a system is issued no industrial waste discharge will be permitted into the vault. The <br />application thereof shall include the acknowledged and recorded covenant of the <br />owner to connect immediately with the central sewage works when it becomes <br />available. <br />48 <br />
