r. u <br />Z. Flow reduction for the use of permanently installed devices may be allow at <br />the discretion ofthe local health officer or his/her designated representative, <br />but in no case shall the maximum daily flow used for design purposes allow <br />greater than a twenty percem {20%) reduction. <br />Reduction in soil absorption area may be allowed for graveness sod absorption <br />systems upon approval ofthe Iocal health department and at the discreton of <br />the local health officer or his/her designated representative. <br />4. The absorption area calcilated as in Section 6.O1.D.1 and 6.O1.D.2 above may <br />be increased by an additional twenty percent (20%) if wastes from a garbage <br />grinder are dischazged into the system and by not more than an additional <br />forty percent (40%) if wastes from an automatic clothes washing machine are <br />discharged into the system. <br />5. The maximum reduction from all combined alternatives shall be no Beater <br />than fifty percent (50%) ofthe standard required sod absorption area and shall <br />be subject to the limitation contained in item (4.) above. <br />F. The ground surface shall be graded to deflect precipitation or other outside water <br />from the disposal area. The absorption area shall be protected against erosion. <br />G. Roof drains, foundation drains, azea drains, swimming pool drains, hot tub drains, <br />water softener drains, or cistern overflows are not to enter the tools treatment unit, <br />or any part ofthe treatment system. <br />H. Alternation Svstems: <br />A diversion valve or other approved diversion mechanism may be installed on the <br />septic tank effiuent line allowing alternating sob absorption systems. Each soil <br />absorption system shall be a mirrimum of fifty percent (50'/0) ofthe total azea required <br />excluding the reductions given for dosing and gravelless systems. The diversion <br />mechanism shall be readily accessible from the finished grade and shall be switched <br />a minimum of once a yeaz or as required by the Iocal boazd of health. Reductions in <br />absorption field area aze not applicable to alternating systems; flow reductions tray <br />be taken where applicable. <br />I. DOSItiE: <br />Dosing must be used in conjunction with soil absorption systems on properties of 2 <br />acres or less.
