• SITE DESCRIPTION (coot) EXHIBIT B <br />The species of vegetation found on the site are Sideoats grams, Blue grama, Western <br />wheatgrass, Sanddrop seed, green needlegrass, buffalo grass, winterfat, dotted gay <br />feather, purple prairie clover, broom snakeweed and scazlet globemallow. These grass <br />species makeup 85% to 90%, by weight, of the vegetation found on the site. <br />PERMANENT MAN-MADE STRUCTURES <br />There is a stock pond approximately 100 feet west of the Buffalo Stone Quarry. The <br />pond collects water that drains from the southwest of the quarry. No water from the <br />quarry drains into the pond. The rock quarry will have no effect on the stock pond. The <br />location of the stock pond is shown on Attachment 1. <br />WATER RESOURCES <br />There are no water sttuchues or springs on the site. There is a dry creek on the west side of <br />quarry, which will nm if there is a big rain. This creek is a small tributary that during dry years <br />has no water in it. The dry creek is approximately 30 feet lower than the quarry. Quarrying <br />will not reach the ground water table and our investigations indicate the ground water table is <br />more than 120 feet below the surface of the site, so no ground water will be exposed. <br />Review of well data on the surrounding areas indicates the highest water table is not <br />associated with the creek that is more than 120 feet below the bottom level of the <br />• mine. The few wells in the area are from 200 to 300 feet deep. We do not expect to encounter <br />ground water on this site for that reason. We will not affect the hydrologic balance of surface or <br />subsurface water in the azea. Incumbent rainfall and snowmelt (storm water) shall be <br />directed to a low portion ofthe quarry for retention and/or percolation into the soils. Storm <br />water will not be allowed to leave the affected azea. Sediment from any surface water <br />flow will be retained in the affected area, and no impacts due to sediment are anticipated No <br />chemicals will be used in processing, and no impacts to water quality due to chemicals will <br />occur. <br />A Colorado Department of Health and Environment C.P.D.E.S. General Permit <br />certification is not expected to be necessary, since the site shall be developed to retain storm <br />water runoff on the affected azea. <br />If needed, water used at the operation will be obtained and truck hauled from sources on the <br />ranch that have current Colorado water rights for the use of that water. No injury to existing <br />Colorado water rights will occur. <br />No refuse or acidic or toxic materials will be exposed by the operation No overburden or <br />other waste pnxlucts will be developed. Chopper fines will be sold and/or used in final <br />reclamation of the pit floor. None of the mined products are anticipated to cause unsightliness <br />or to pollute the drainage system <br />• The commodity to be extracted is a horizontal limestone bed of varying thickness up to 15+feet <br />thick and which outcrops on the site.
