Seeding will be done as recommended by the local <br />N.R.C.S. office: between November 1 and April 30, It is estimated that all of the <br />pit floor will be utilized for processing and stockpiling for a year or two before any <br />portion would be vacated for seeding. <br />Fertilizer was not recommended by the local N.R.C.S. office. Please see <br />Attachment 5, page 14 for the recommendation from the local N.R.C.S. office. <br />(iii) Revegetation Mix <br />Species recommended by the local N.R.C.S. office as suitable for the affected area to <br />be planted at the broadcast rate are: <br />Species Pounds <br />Western wheatgrass 4.0 <br />Switch grass 1.2 <br />Bdue grams 0.6 <br />Side oats grams 1.8 <br />Little bluestem 1.1 <br />Yellow Indian grass 1.0 <br />Please see Attachment 5, pages 14 for the recommendation from the local N.R.C.S. office. <br />(iv) Seed Application Method <br />Seed will be broadcast applied, and the area harrowed after seed application. <br />• v Mulch <br />Straw mulch will be used in reclamation. <br />(vi) Shrub/T'ree Establishment <br />Shrub or tree establishment will not be attempted on the areas to be revegetated. <br />The area is grazed by livestock, and shrub or tree establishment is not considered viable. <br />(d) Remainin¢ Features <br />No ponds, streams, structures or other facilities will remain after reclamation. Pre- <br />existing roads used by the ranch operation wilt remain. <br />(e) Other Features <br />Sediment control features including ditches, berms, and settling azeas will remain if <br />they are needed. These sediment control features aze anticipated to occupy a small <br />portion of the affected area. <br />(2) Estimate of Reclamation Costs <br />As described above, available portions of the pit floor will be reclaimed as mining <br />progresses. However, should no reclamation be done until the pit has been mined out, <br />the costs of reclaiming the entire affected area, 9.6 acres-not just the pit floor, <br />have been estimated here. The cost of removing plant growth medium prior to <br />• disturbance is accommodated within the costs of mining. <br />
