.~.
~~
Mr. Jack L. Hawkins -2- January 27, 1984
Exhibit B
2. I had difficulty in making out your figure for the maximum depth of o,~
gravel to be mined near the north and east boundaries. Is this figure
12'?
10. I understand that the two gravel knolls to either side of the drav are
to be mined by this operation. However, there must be some access ~
across the low area or draw between the knolls. This haul road area
should be included as a part of the permit area. The haul road ~ oR
construction should be described for this area (including ditching to '
prevent sediment movement due to erosion of the road across the draw),
and you should commit to a reclamation plan for this road area (for
example, ripping and seeding with the approved seeding mixture and
methods).
Exhibit C
1. I do not mean to belabor the point concerning the items needed on your
map, but there are some Items that are still not clear. Please clearly
outline the proposed permit area on the map. I suggest the use of a
different color or a very recognizable type of boundary line on both
copies of the map. The boundaries should include the haul road
connecting the two segments of the permit area (said corridor running
presumably east and west). If the connecting haul road expands the
permit area beyond six acres, an extra permit fee in the amount of f10
per acre or part thereof should be paid to our Division. In this
regard, please glue the exact final acreage for this operation when you
respond to this letter. I have enclosed both copies of your map in this
mailing.
Exhibit E
1. I am still not satisfied, given the potential difficulty of revegetating ///
this site, with the details of the revegetation plan given to you by the /
S.C.S. Therefore, I will make some suggestions below.
a. The seeding mixture given to you by the S.C.S., does
Incorporate the native species and diversity needed.
examination of the vegetation found on the site, I s
following mixture might be an improvement:
Broadcast Rate, Percent
Species lbs. PLS/acre Seeds/sg ft (Based on

not yet
After an
~ggest that the /~
of Mixture ~
Seeds/sg ft)
Western wheatgrass 12.0 30 31.5
Galleta* 8.2 30 31.5
Crested wheatgrass 3.5 15 18.75
Yellow sweetclover 0.85 5 6.25
Totals 24.55 80 100%
* Based on a seed weight of 159,000 seeds/lb.
