1fINED LAND WILDLIFE STATE*fENT/El'ALUATION (Revised)
for limited impact and select regular mine applications
:ne following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use by Hined Land
~ma[ion Board in their consideration of a mining permit for:
Butala Const~n,ction Company Inc Whi Marbl Ouarrv S[1~- mf SPrtinn 14 TSnN R(,F, N~.1pM
Name/Type and Location of Hine (Legal)
~ildlife Species list: Elk, mule deer, Lroyote, marniot, assorted small maitmals, blue grouse,
assorted small birds.
=-,?angered/critical species/impacted;
None known.
Critical habitats/vegetative communities impacted: The area to be mined is fairly fragile
subalpine/alpine on a steep slope with the dominant tree species being bristlecone pine,
and Engelmarm spruce with associated vegetation.
.'ssessment of impact: the area is presently being mined, with about 2 acres affected. All
covering vegetation will be lost, and there is potential for considerable erosion of the
exposed steep hillside, and subsequent increased siltation into Taylor Gulch which drains
the area, feeding into the South Arkansas River, a decent fishery.
"'ne Reclamation recommendations (include key species/habitats for which restoration
.s designed). Care must be taken during the mining operation to minimize erosion, and
after mining, I would recommend resloping the mined area, and revegetation with a
a seed mix recommended by the Soil Conservation Service.
:e~zred By: Ron Dobsonl_D~~~SiFt:.Wildlife [+Iar,ager Date: July 30. 1987
'.'=-`tied B~•: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Date:
_= state-cnt is void is not prnc~•-.[ci ,.ithin 1 ~car._- ----^--------
--._s ~aal~•sis does not censti[~~t~r ~-.~:r.~:a1 of application.
