Stevens
Senior Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Yocam Gravel Pit - Permit No. M-99-060
Dear Mr. Stevens:
This letter is in answer to your request for additional
information on the above referenced gravel pit.
Page 6 of Application - Authority to sign the application on
behalf of the County enclosed.
Exhibit C - Section (F) - The excavated pit area will extend
over the entire proposed permit area, from the area of the
stockpile southeast to the limits of the permit area.
Exhibit C - Section (S) - I did contact the State Engineer's
Office and discussed out intentions with a man by the name
of John at 3:00 P.M. on June 7, 1999. I explained to him
that our purpose for putting the berm around the pit was to
avoid having material run off site from the pit area. The
water would either evaporate or be absorbed into the ground
within 24 to 48 hours. John said since this was the case,
we needed no permit from their office. ,
Exhibit D - Section (V) - Based on the recommendation made
by NRCS and since mulching was not recommended as part of
the reclamation plan, I am assuming mulching was not needed
at this site.
Exhibit D - Section (VI) - Trees or shrubs are not part of
the reclamation plan.
Exhibit D - Section (d) - The access/haul road outside the
permit area will remain as is and will be used to feed and
check cattle.
Robert A.
