• and the average slope was determined to be 37 percent. Following is McKOOI et al's.
(1987) L,S equation:
L,S = L m * (17.2 sin 8 - 0.55) for 5 ~8a
(72.6)
L,S = ( 300 )0.6 * (17.2 sin 20.4° - 0.55)
72.6
L,5 = 2.34 * (5.995 - 0.55)
L,S = 12.7
•
The C and P Factors. The C factor, the cover and management factor, is the ratio of soil
loss from an area with specified cover and management to that from an identical area in
titled continuous fallow.
The P factor, the support practice factor, is the ratio of soil loss with a support
practice like contouring, strip cropping, or terracing to that with st ra ight-row farming
up and down the slope.
The C factor was determined based on the vegetation description in Tab 10 and with the aid
of the USUA-ARS revised USLE software program for each cover type within the overall
drainage area. The P factor is based on current or future practice. Table 13-5-5 shows
the weighted avera~e results for the C and P factors for the various areas.
TABLE 13-5-5
Weighted CP Factor
Pond 009 Watershed
•
*
Vegetation Type
Aspen
Mixed Brush
Sagebrush
Meadow
Steep Mountain Brush
Western Wheatgrass
Topsoil Removed
CP Area (Ac.)
