Topsoil that has been salvaged for reclamation is stored in stockpiles as close to the mine area
• as possible, in order to limit the distance it must be moved. Further, vegetation is established on
inactive topsoil stockpiles to limit wind erosion.
The above outlined activities constitute almost all of the potential sources of fugitive dust at the
New Horizon Mine. These potential sources are effectively controlled by the described practices
and control measures. As a result, the emission of fugitive dust will not present a significant
impact on the ambient air quality in the near vicinity of the mine or at long distances from the
mine.
Peabody Attachments 24-1 and 24-2 include the Air Pollution Emission Notice (APEN) and
Fugitive Particulate Control Plan for New Horizon 1 Mine. A copy of the Initial Air Pollution
Emission Permit for New Horizon 2 issued by the Colorado Department of Health, Air Pollution
Control Division, is attached at the end of this section (Attachment 2.05.6(1)-1 ).
•
• (Revised 32t-96) 2.05.6(1) - 2
