crushing, and contains the only cortex remaining on the tool. Rudimentary <br />edge retouch is evident in. the form of large flaking, most of which is uni- <br />• facial. There is only minor evidence of use-wear, in the form of crushing. <br />As far as is known, quartzite is not a locally available material. No other <br />artifacts or other remains were noted. <br />In addition, a previously recorded historic site, 5DT124,,is alongside <br />the proposed access road to drill hole 51. Df this historic homestead, only <br />a small circular corral is near the access road, and this structure was flag- <br />ged for avoidance. As long as this corral is avoided, no damage will be done <br />to the site. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />The isolated tool, 5DT549, was collected, and will therefore not be <br />impacted. If the corral at 5DT124 is avoided, then no adverse effect is ex- <br />pected from the proposed drilling activities. On the basis of these findings, <br />clearance is recommended. <br />• <br /> <br />
