Draft: March 31, 1999
6.6 Preventative Maintenance

1
1
i

1
1
Page 20
If a procedure calls for the use ofany instruments, the instrument will be calibrated according
to manufacturer's recommendations. In general, preventative maintenance will follow procedures
from the manufacturer. A schedule of calibration and maintenance will be kept with the instrument.
6.7 Data Assessment Procedures
Data quality will be evaluated based on sampling techniques and analytical quality controls.
AColorado-certified laboratory will be used, therefore formalized audits of laboratory systems by
American Soda will not be conducted. Informal audits of field work will be sufficient to ensure that
SOPS aze being followed. Performance of both field and laboratory QA systems will be assessed
based on results of laboratory and field quality control samples.
A general evaluation of data quality will consider potential sources of error, including gross
errors, systematic errors, and random errors. The percent difference between duplicate samples and
the analytical results from any blank samples will be evaluated.
6.8 Corrective Action
Corrective action indicators have been developed for deviations from established water
quality data, process monitoring, and hydrostatic pressure monitoring. The corrective action criteria
for such deviations are presented in this section.
6.8.1 Water Quality Data
Water quality data will be updated as each data point is acquired. The environmental
coordinator will review these data at each update. Data points that are greater than three standard
deviations from established trends may require corrective action measures, depending on the ultimate
use of the data. In the event that corrective action is indicated, the following sequence of procedures
will be initiated.
1. The sample(s) will be submitted for re-analysis
2. Samples will be recollected and submitted for analysis
3. The data will be invalidated
In the event that a sample was lost or destroyed, items 2 and 3 of the corrective action
sequence would be initiated.
Agapito Associates, Inc.
