Using the technique described in Appendix C, one equipment rinsate blank will be
collected for every suite of samples which were collected utilizing decontaminated equipment.
Duplicates
Duplicate samples will be collected and submitted for laboratory analysis to allow a
precision. One blank duplicate sample will be collected for every suite of samples using the
determination of natural sample variance, consistency of Feld and lab techniques, and analytical
technique described in Appendix C. The duplicates will be labeled and handled as regulaz samples.
6.5.2 Quality Control Checks-Laboratory

1

t
1
1
1

1
1

The analytical laboratory analyzes QA/QC samples intemally. Blanks aze run at least one
per sampling event. Matrix spiking is performed by the laboratory to measure recoveries ofanalytes
for comparison to the established accuracy objective. American Soda will request a QC report with
every analytical report received.
Matrix Spike Samples
A set ofduplicate samples called matrix spike (MS)/matrix spike duplicates (MSD) samples
will be analyzed by the laboratory using a minimum of one in every 30 samples collected as part of
the internal monitoring program, including blanks and duplicates. The analysis of samples spiked
with a known amount of analyte will monitor possible matrix effects specific to the sample media.
Accuracy will be determined from the recovery rates of compounds (the matrix spike compounds
defined in the analytical methods). Precision will be assessed by comparison of matrix spike
recoveries of the duplicates. The addition of known concentrations ofcompounds/pazameters into
the sample also monitors extraction digestion efficiency. These QA/QC samples aze processed
internally by the laboratory, and no additional field samples will be submitted for this procedure.
Laboratory Blanks
The laboratory should process one blank sample for every 10-20 samples processed. This
data will be provided to American Soda in the laboratory QC report, and will be maintained with
project records.
Agapito Associates, Inc.
