• Skelton, Inc.
MLRb Fermit Application
Hawks Fit
Norwood, Colorado
EXHIBIT D
Reclamation Plan
1. The overburden to be replaced on the site will be the first
lift and will' be replaced to an average thickness of one foot as
availability dictates. The proposed slope of the area will be
5:1. Due to the contours of the area and limited space, it is
not feasible to reclaim the area until all mining in the area is
completed.
2. The proposed ma:iim~im gradient of reclaimed slopes is 5:1.
This can be easily accomplished after mining because the area is
being levelled out as mining progresses.
3. The thickness of the topsoil should be an average of twelve
inches overall. There will be enough topsoil stoc4::piled to
cover the entire area to be reclaimed in this manner.
4. The Soil Conservation Service has recommended reseeding the
stockpile area in the late fall/early winter. This would seem
to apply to actual reseeding of the reclaimed area to obtain
ma:timum germination and stability of the soil. Chemical
fertilizers will not be added, and the seeding will be done with
a drill.
5. We will revegetate in the following manner:
1. Western Wheatgrass 4# per acre
^c. Manchar Smooth Sr~ome 3# per acre
3. Crested Wheatgrass 2# per acre
9# per acre
The seeding rate per acre is less than recommended by the Soil
Conservation Service, but the F'LS rate in his recnmmendati'on is
for seed which is being broadcast. This rate would be cut in
half if the seed were planted (as we plan) with a drill. The
area will be used for dryland pasture upon reclamation, and the
suggested grasses shown above are very conducive to growth in a
dryland type area.
6. The seed will be applied with a drill.
7. Mulch will not be applied.
8. No ponds, streams, roads or buildings will remain after
• reclamation.
9. This portion not applicable to this pit.
10. Maximum as suggested.
