Soils Information -
The Soils Conservation Service soils map shows the soil as being of
the Wages-Eckley-Dix Complex. The statement is made that "these
soils are so intermingled that it is not practical to map them
separately." The SCS investigation reports this soil as being a
good source of roadfill but poor as a source for sand and gravel.
However, actual excavation indicated sufficient quantities of sand
and gravel for all county road purposes.
EXIIIBI'.f E - Reclamation Plan
The pit area lies within the banks of the Frenchman Creek. The creek
area only has a vegetative cover in dry periods. Flood waters destroy such
vegetation periodically. Therefore, no vegetation will be re-established
after t:he gravel is mined. If any of the creek banks do inadvertently get
disturbed, said banks will be backsloped from the bottom of the creek to
the bank edge at a slope no steeper than 2:1.
Portions of the existing creek banks are currently grassed. They range
in steepness from straight up and down to 2:1 slopes.
If any of the banks are disturbed, they will be re-seeded with the
following recommended grasses:
Western Wheat grass 4.8 lbs
Sideoats Gramma 3.6 lbs
Blue Gramma 0.9 lbs
9.3 lbs PLSjACRE
