_2_.05.3(5) Topsoil Removal and Storage (Continued)
• Initial topsoil removal will be from the flat area, between
the stream bed and old underground workings to the west, in the
initial, or Phase 1, of the mining operation. The area is up to
200' wide, but averages approximately 700' length by 125' wide
and will be the initial site of mining. This volume of topsoil
to be removed measures et a miminum 700' X 125' X 1.25' _
109,375/27 4,051 yards and will be moved by trunk or scraper
to the stockpile storage as shown on Exhibit KK. The stockpile
storage measures 0.97 acre in size, and the stockpiled materiel,
if occupying the entire area, would have a height of 2.58 feet:
For convenience in storage and stabilization by seeding file
topsoil can be shaped into an area measuring 200 feet X 1UU feet
with a height of 5 1/2 feet.
As mining progresses the overburden removed and replaced
will be covered with topsoil removed in advance of further
stripping, thereby allowing the initial topsoil stockpile to
remain undisturbed until it is needed at the end of the Phase 1
mining operation.
The same method will be employed during the Phase 2
operation east of Enyleville Gulch beginning with the topsoil
located at the south end of the pit. As both phases of the
mining operation progress the applicant will strive to replace
15 inches of topsoil, and any topsoil mined in excess of this
thickness will be placed in the topsoil storage. Any excess
topsoil stored will be spread over un-seeded areas in order to
clean up the storaye area at the completion of the mining
• 2
Rev. 04/05/90
