XI. Equipment <br />1. Policy <br />Equipment which is applicable to the desired <br />measurements, in good repair, and properly cali- <br />brated is considered essential to the maintenance <br />of a quality radiation protection program. <br />2. Program <br />The Radiation Department will maintain equipment <br />which is applicable and sufficiently sensitive to <br />provide monitoring capabilities as outlined herein. <br />This equipment will be purchased from reputable <br />manufacturers (Eberline Instruments, Mine Safety <br />Appliances, RaDECo, etc.) known for expertise in <br />their specific fields. <br />The minimum equipment numbers, types and calibration <br />frequencies are shown in Table - 3. <br />The "in-house" calibrations will be conducted in <br />accordance with Standard Operating Procedures <br />(see example in Appendix - A). <br />3. Records and Audits <br />Calibration records, whether produced in-house or <br />by the manufacturer, will be maintained by the Radia- <br />tion Protection Department. <br />30 <br />
