VII. Control of Exposures to Airborne Radioactive Materials
1. Policy
Exposures to concentrations of airborne radio-
active materials will be limited to levels as far
below regulatory limits as may be reasonably
achievable.
2. Program
Personnel exposures to airborne radioactive materials
are expected to be quite low, due to the fact that
all process materials are damp or liquid. Conse-
quently it is not anticipated that respiratory pro-
tection will be required for any routine job function.
Exposure records will, however, be maintained for any
individual that is exposed to in excess of 25%,
of the applicable maximum permissible concentration,
as outlined in the following:
2.1 Natural Uranium
The concentration measured via lapel air sampling
for a given individual will be considered typical
of that which he is exposed to during the per-
tinent sampling period (e.g., day, week or month).
The total time spent by the individual during
the pertinent exposure period will then be
multiplied by the fraction of the maximum per-
missible concentration measured via lapel air
sampling. The result (MPC - Hours) will then
be compared to the following limits:
18
