V. Radiation Surve
1. Policy
Personnel exposures to ionizing radiation will
be limited to levels as far below regulatory limits
as may be reasonably achievable. A radiation survey
program will be implemented to maintain management
cognizence of exposures, hence control of radiation
levels.
2. Program
Excessive levels of beta and gamma radiation are
not anticipated due to the dilute nature of all
process materials. Non-the-less, a radiation survey
program will be implemented in two phases, as de-
scribed in the following:
2.1 Routine Surveys
Monthly measurements of beta and gamma radia-
tion levels will be made at the locations
shown in Figure 2. These measurements will be
made with a beta-gamma dose rate instrument
of the type described in Table 3. Investigative
surveys will be performed any time that a single
reading indicates that personnel will routinely
be exposed to gamma radiation dose rates of
2.5 mr/hr, or greater.
2.2 Investigative and Nonroutine Surveys
Investigative and nonroutine surveys will be
made at any time it is suspected that exposure
12
