ERHIBIT D - Mining Plan
The Raftopoulos Pit #1
gently from south to north.
estimated to be from 15' to
no bedrock was encountered,
bedrock will dip slightly t
that assumption. Mining is
end June 1, 2008.
is situated on a gravel bench sloping
The depth of the gravel resources is
20'. In the exploration of this site
however, it is believed that the
~ the north. This plan is based on
estimated to begin June 1, 1998, and
There are no significant man-made features within 200 feet
of the affected area, with the exception of the existing access
road, which belongs to the permittee's property owners: The
Raftopoulos Brothers. This road will be re-developed, graded and
drained to accomodate vehicles in Moffat County's transportation
system. The facility will be left in place, at the owners'
request, in the post-mining period for the purpose of ranch
management.
The significant disturbances are limited to the mining,
storage and removal of surface mineable materials on the
permitted area. No off-site facilities are involved.
Because of the topographic limitations, this pit is designed
to channel local drainage water into depressions that may form
water ponds. At the advice of the Colorado State Engineer's
Office, if the water storage in these depressed locations becomes
substantial, the land owner will need to file for storage and
evaporation rights on these features. Surface run-off water will
be diverted away from the excavation area by berms and channels
as necessary to protect the sloping embankments from erosion.
The topsoil depth is from 8" to 12" through out the Affected
Area. This humic material will be stripped and stockpiled in an
inactive portion of the Affected Area, and protected from local
drainage channels, until needed for reclamation, The topsoil
piles will be stabilized by seeding them with Moffat County's
approved seed mix and application formula. Signs will be placed
to identify the topsoil and to caution not to remove.
The overburden runs from nil on the north end to 5 feet
thick on the south, Because Moffat County will mix roughly two
feet of overburden with the sand and gravel in a 15 ft. profile,
we estimate that there will be no substantial overburden storage
piles to address.
EXHIBIT ° s~
