2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
r1
LJ
The reclamation objective of Mt. Harris will be to restore the surface
loadout area to the land use capability which will be equal to what
existed previously. Since the area has previously been disturbed by the
industrial uses associated with the company town of Mt. Harris, the
power plant, and past coal loadout operations, no "virgin" topsoil is
available for salvage in the immediate area of the coal loadout.
The objective of the reclamation plan is to return the area to an
industrial land use. This will be accomplished by regrading the area to
its approximate original contour and covering all coal material with
approximately two (2) inches of gravel. The gravel will effectively act
as a dust suppressant for the coal loadout site.
Final reclamation of the area disturbed by construction and use of the
facilities will be satisfied by the implementation of the reclamation
plan sequence described below:
•
• Removal and salvage of the .facilities and equipment
• Grading of area to approximate pre-operation contour
• Covering of all coal material with a minimum of two (2) inches
of gravel
Since the objective of the Mt. Harris reclamation plan is to leave the
permit area as an industrial site, it is planned to leave the
containment berm around the site at reclamation. The berm will be
revegetated and will serve to protect the hydrologic balance of the area
if the site is used in the future.
The sedimentation pond will also be left at reclamation which will also
serve to protect the hydrologic balance of the area.
•
2.05.4-1
