overburden handling will bury mut:h of this clay and potentially acidic strata. A sampling plan
will be used near the Lennox coal outcrop as shown on Exhibit 6-6 and throughout the
southern mine block to identify final graded areas having an unsuitable clay, pH, and;or acid
base potential level. The unsuitak~le shale and clay strata encountered in the reduced Y~ighwall
or upper three feet of final graded spoil will be scarified prior to being covered with topsoil.
Final graded areas having an un:;uitable active or potential acidity will be neutralizf:d with
amendments or covered with a minimum of four feet of suitable root growth medium including
soil. The sampling plan and mitigative measures are discussed in further detail in l'ab 21,
Minesoil Reconstruction.
Coal Quality. Table 6-8, Coal Seam Analysis, summarizes the quality of the Lennox and Wadge
coal seams of the Seneca II-W Mine. Specific analysis for the mineral marcasite was deemed
unnecessary es marcasite content is included as part of the total sulfur Ipyriticl content.

•
34 Revised 9/98
