This is a shallow, well drained (Class 4) loamy soil which occurs
on basalt colluvium talus with a slope of 66 percent at an elevation of
7500 ft and an aspect of 122 degrees. The soil is formed from basalt
boulders, has no outcrops (rockiness class 0), and 15-70x coverage of
basalt boulders (stoniness class 4). The soils permeability is moderate
(permeability class 4) with rapid runoff (runoff class 4) and no
groundwater. Mater has caused slight erosion (water erosion class 1) on
the soil. The climate is semi-arid. The dominant vegetation is Gambel
oak, serviceberry and adapted grasses.
0-4 inches. Dark yellowish brown (10 YR 4/4) loam, Brown (10
YR 4/3) moist; moderate medium granular primary structure;
soft. very friable, slightly sticky and non plastic; non
calcareous; non alkaline;non saline; clear wavy boundary.
AC 4-11 inches. Dark brown (10 YR 3/3) clay loam, very dark
grayish brown (30 YR 3/2) moist; moderate medium subangular
blocky primary structure; hard, friable, slightly sticky and
slightly plastic; non calcareous non alkaline; non saline;
gradual smooth boundary.
C 11-16 inches. Dark brown (10 YR 3/4) clay loam, Dark brown
(10 YR 3/3) moist; fine, medium subangular blocky primary
structure; slightly hard, friable. slightly sticky and
slightly plastic; non calcareous; non alkaline; non saline.
