~"T, 2.05.3 (21 OPERATION DESCRIPTION
As of May, 1987, there are 28.6 acres of disturbed area at the minesite.
The loadout areas in the town of Trinidad total an additional 6.3 acres.
This level of surface disturbance should not change until more area is
needed for refuse disposal and topsoil stockpiling. Map No. 12 shows the
future full extent of the refuse pile. An additional 6.7 acres will be
disturbed for refuse disposal, and 1.4 acres will be disturbed for topsoil
Stockpile No. 2. The total disturbed area for the life of the operation
will be 36.7 acres at the mine site.
The previous permit term, from 1982 to 1987, began with facilities being
~=' constructed in 1982. Mining took place until the summer of 1984, when
operations ceased for economic reasons. The mine has been idle from the
summer of 1984 to date - May 1987.
Both mines each utilize five portals. One portal at each mine is a belt
portal from which the coal is transported to the surface handling system.
Coal from Rnlon Crcek No.l Mine wi 11 travel by conveyer bel t to the raw coal
stockpile, where a reclaim belt underneath the stockpile will transfer raw
coal to the preparation plant. Refuse from the plant will be brought out
on the refuse belt to a pile where construction equipment will spread and
compact the reject according to the approved plan. Clean coal from the
prep plant will be brought out on a stacker conveyor to stockpile. Trucks
will then load directly from under the stockpile and then transport the
coal to the loadouts or to the customers directly. A flow sheet of the
preparation plant is given in Exhibit H.
346 Revised S/93
