2.03.3 OPERATION PLAN - PERMIT AREA <br />2.03.3 (1) PRODUCTION METHODS AND EQUIPMENT <br />The Rnron Crcek No.l Mine uti 1 i zes f i ve portal s i n the southeast part of <br />the disturbed area to enter the Lower Starkville Seam. A ramp <br />from the Lower Starkville to the Upper Starkville Seam was driven <br />to access these reserves. Mining in'the upcaeing permit term <br />(1987-1992) should be in the Upper Starkville Seam) however, <br />mining may be transferred to the Lower Starkville Seam in the <br />southern portion of the mine projection area (Compare Map 4 and <br />5.) <br />TheRaroncrockNo.2Minca150 utilizes five portals located on the north <br />edge of the disturbed area. In thERntonCrcckNo.2Mine the parting <br /> between the two seams is thin enough that is contemplated that <br /> the Upper and Lower Starkville Seams will be mined together. <br />The coal will be mined in both mines by the room and pillar <br />method using bath continuous and conventional equipment. In a <br />continuous mining section the coal will be cut by a continuous <br />miner which will load into electric shuttle cars (2 in each <br />section). The shuttle cars will dump into a feeder-breaker from <br />which the coal will be transported to the outside by a 36" <br />conveyor belt. A roof bolter in each section will 6e used to <br />secure the roof. <br />In a conventional mining section, the coal face will first be <br />undercut by a cutting machine.
