Revision
February 1982
ever produce 1.5 million tons the same year. Therefore, the aggregate com-
biped tonnage for any given year should not exceed 1.5 million tons per
year and is expected to be somewhat lower than this.
Coal handling facilities
Mine facilities (Exhibits 2.05.2-E and 2.05.2-F) generally proceeding
from west to east include: the unit train loadout silos; coal stockpile
areas; office facilities and bathhouse; the West Portal and loadout facili-
ties and; loadout facilities, a wash plant, and a warehouse at the East
Portal. The five sediment ponds (from west to east) are: the Norris Pond
at the loadout site; the proposed West Mine Pond at the West Mine surface
area; the proposed East Laydown Pond west of the East Mine substation pond;
the fast Mine Pond, behind the warehouse, and; the Substation Pond north of
the highway (Exhibits 2.05.3-A through 2.05.3-I and Appendix XXI).
Roads and transportation
Coal is transported from the clean coal bin at the East Portal along
Highway 133 to the scale house at the coal stockpile location where the
coal is either stockpiled or dumped into the truck dump which feeds the
silos. Coal fines used to be trucked from the wash plant to the upper
level, put on the ground, and allowed to partially dewater. This refuse
was then picked up by a front-end loader, put into a contract haul truck
and hauled to the Delta County Landfill. Coal fines are now disposed of
underground in the East Portal Abandoned Workings. This system is also
proposed for the West Portal (Appendix XXIV.5).

2.05-13
