January 24, 1994
Page 3
will not be any overburden stockpiles or diversions in the
permit area.
7. All of the permit area will be mined. We have
designated where the mining will begin. We will mine out
from this point until the boundaries are reached.
8. We have attached a new map that is labeled and
illustrates all the information that you need. Please be
advised that this pit was mined by the previous Commissioner
of Baca County (dates unknown). I was unaware that the pit
was not completely permitted. The paper work had been
started but was not completed, therefore, mining was stopped
until a permit is issued. We will begin mining when we
receive a permit. Some gravel has been removed by the
landowner and other farmers in the area (dates unknown).
The County will use the material that is mined for
maintenance and construction of County roads.
9. The gradient of reclamation will be 3:1.
l0. Only topsoil will be replaced into the area. The area
will be planted back to natural grass.
Exhibit F - Permits and Licenses Required
1. We were not aware of other permits that we needed when
we filed for this permit. We have been contacted by the
Department of Health, Army Corp of Engineers, and the
Colorado Historical Society and will meet there
requirements.
If you have any other questions
information regarding Gunkel Pit
to contact me at (719) 523-6532.
or need any other
#31, please do not hesitate
Sincerely,
'Ray Miller,
Commissioner
RM/dc
enclosures
