• Cover. Cover will be measured by the point-intercept method. The paint-intercept transact will be at least
25 meters long with a minimum of 50 points taken.
Production. Production data will be celleded by the harvest method. All herbaceous vegetation occuring
within the vertical projection of a 112 m2 to 1 m2 plot will be harvested as discussed in Sampling
Parameters.
Woody Plant Density. ,Woody plant densities will be measured in a 1 m x 50 m (50 m2) quadmnt in the
reference area and generally a 2 m x 50 m (100 m2) quadrant in the revegetated areas. Larger or smaller
quadrants may be used in reclaimed areas depending on area to be sampled or specfic sampling goals.
Species List. The specles list will be developed both from spdng flora investigations and from information
gathered during peak growing season sampling.
Samolino Intensity. Because of the varying degree of disturbance or size of reclaimed areas from year to
• year, a size dimension of a reclaimed area cannot be specified. Therefore, a minimum of one (1) sample for
each ten (10) acres of reclaimed area will be located in each block of reclamation or until sample adequacy
(if required) is achieved. A particular block will be identified by year of seeding. Sampling locations will
generally be established through the use of random point selection. This method may be modified when it
becomes apparent that a more even distribution or allocation of sampling points would be desirable,
particulady 'rf the reclamation block is split into a number of subunits. Since the monRodng data is intended
for evaluation of revegetation stands and reclamation methods and not for strict statistical analysis, this
"allocetion" method of sample point selection is practical. A sampling point is that location in the study area
where the production, cover and woody plant density measurements for a sample are collected,
Reference Area Monitoring. The reference areas will be pedodicelly monitored using similar methods,
parameters, and intensities as specified under Revegetation Monitoring.
Annual Reoortina
The Annual Reclamation Report will be submitted by March 30 of each year and will report those items
• required by 2.04.13(1). Additionally, the following information will be included:
1. Annual herbicide applications and weed and pest control measures
TR-37 1327 Revised 04/05
